  • Overview

    The Director of Communications and Public Affairs will coordinate the organization's US regional communications strategy. Reporting to the Group VP Corporate Affairs in London, the director will work collaboratively with senior US leadership to develop and implement communication strategies aligned with global strategies that will have the greatest impact in the US market. The US director will help build awareness and a positive reputation for Hikma in the US.


    The director will have responsibility for ensuring appropriate adaptation of global initiatives and messages, as well as regional internal communications; stakeholder/media relations; issues management; public affairs/gov’t relations; corporate brand, and product communications.


    The role sits on the US leadership team.


    • Collaborate with the Group corporate affairs and US senior leadership to develop communications strategies that will broaden reach and deepen impact.
    • Develop and refine Hikma’s US story/messages to ensure organizational consistency and understanding.
    • Identify significant media and public policy issues that can be leveraged to support the business, and create and implement plans to leverage.
    • Interface with marketing, medical affairs, regulatory, legal and others to assure seamless and integrated programs.
    • Develop and foster relationships with key reporters on behalf of Hikma and oversee organizational response to US media and stakeholder inquiries about the company.
    • Lead public affairs consultants to manage relationships and advocacy in Washington and key states.
    • Counsel senior leaders on communications and public affairs risks and opportunities.
    • Lead team to deliver internal communications across the US region that informs and engages employees.


    • Significant corporate/strategic communications and US government affairs experience that includes a blend of advocacy and media relations.
    • Demonstrated success with Internal/employee engagement.
    • Pharmaceutical or life sciences industry experience preferred.
    • Ability to coach and support senior leaders as spokespersons.
    • Able to influence without direct authority.
    • Strong team player; exceptional writer and content creator.
    • Demonstrated strong leadership, organizational and project management skills.
    • Disciplined organizational skills in all aspects of job performance with strong attention to detail.
    • Strong presentation, writing/positioning and editing skills.
    • 10+ years of relevant experience required.
    • Bachelor’s degree required.
